The Spooky Shortcut -- If you’re planning a drive across the Connemara National Park to Clifden, you may want to make a shortcut on the rough but beautiful “bog road” more prosaically known as R341. Unless you’re traveling at night, that is. A hotel manager in these parts once told us that some locals consider the road to be haunted, and won’t take it after dark. Spooks or not, it’s certainly dark and scary at night, and should be avoided in bad weather.
