Copán's dining scene seems to take more after Antigua, Guatemala, than anywhere in Honduras. Vibrant backpacker hangouts, vegetarian cafes, and pizza places are packed in the small cobblestone center. If you want standard international traveler fare, you'll find it, but if you are a little bit adventurous, you can discover regional dishes like authentic Mayan specialties and Salvadoran pupusas. Apart from the places listed in this guide, try the comedores inside the small market, 1 block from the plaza behind the museum, which serve simple traditional foods.

Inexpensive

At night, in front of the Hondutel office just off the square, several baleada, carne asada, and taco carts stands set up. The baleadas are simple -- just a corn tortilla with refried beans and fresh cream -- and cheap (L10), while the carne asada generally is served on a plate with rice.
