Spiddal Craft Village (Ceardlann an Spidéil)

On the main road as you enter Spiddal from Galway, this is a fantastic collection of cottage-style crafts stores and workshops. The artists-in-residence here change, but selection is always diverse. At this writing, they include a basketmaker; a ceramicist; a jeweler specializing in pieces made from pre-euro Irish coins (you can pick them out by your birth year); a traditional weaver; and a stained-glass artist. Plenty of the work is affordable without stretching the budget too far. Even if you’re not buying, it’s an inspiring place to browse. The Builín Blasta Café sells delicious bakery goods, snacks, and light meals, in addition to takeaway deli items. You can contact the individual artists via the main website.
