Haunted it may or may not be, but Charleville Castle certainly comes to life in early August, when the delightfully laidback and bohemian Castlepalooza takes over the grounds. The 3-day festival—which won the award for “best small festival in Europe” in 2009, 2010, and 2011—attracts indie and alternative bands from Ireland and beyond. There are also arts workshops, film screenings, spoken word performances, and the like. Camping is available on site during the festival.
