You don’t walk into a pub called Durty Nelly’s expecting haute cuisine, but some welcome surprises are to be found here. It serves appetizing pub food—fish and chips, steak sandwiches, burgers, and salads. Those who don’t mind a bit of cheesy tourist novelty can have their picture taken while pouring their own pint of Guinness. Durty Nelly's actually has three dining rooms—the main pub area, the more refined Oyster Restaurant, and the Loft. The latter two offer an upscale version of the same food (good steaks, Thai curries, fresh seafood, and so on). And if you’re wondering about the name, “Durty Nelly” was a somewhat ribald heroine of Irish folklore, said to have invented the magical cure-all (and highly alcoholic) variety of moonshine, potcheen.
