Picín

Romantic and secluded, Picín is a place to live out your Irish country cottage fantasy. It's just one double room, but guests have a private entrance, with a garden-facing terrace and their own sitting room with a wood-burning stove. The bathroom is enormous, with a deep clawfoot tub and even an old wooden loveseat. Upstairs, the bedroom is an oasis of peace and calm. Hosts Amelia and Nick Etherton are a delight and so considerate—prepare to be welcomed with cake and smiles. Breakfasts are delicious too. Pet the ponies, take a countryside walk, and just relish living this life for a few days. The only snag is that you have to fend for yourself at dinner, but Caherdaniel is a short drive away—or you can borrow a barbecue grill. Picín is just off the Ring of Kerry road, between Caherdaniel and Castlecove (on the left if you’re coming from Caherdaniel). There is a sign, but it’s small and low to the ground.
