This gallery houses a permanent collection, including fine paintings by Jack B. Yeats, brother of the poet W. B. Yeats. It regularly hosts traveling exhibitions, including some from the Irish Museum of Modern Art. The gallery building is the lovely neo-Romanesque Carnegie Building, dating from 1903. On some evenings, it hosts literary readings or classical music concerts, so check local listings to see if one is scheduled during your stay. As this book was being written, the gallery was undergoing renovation, which, while not changing the exhibits inside, should make it even shinier than ever.
