Surrounded by a whopping 340 hectares (840 acres) of landscaped grounds, on the very edge of charming Adare village, this luxurious resort looks impressively Victorian Gothic from the outside. Indoors, the beautifully restored and converted manor house is mostly 19th century, although check out the elaborately carved 15th-century doors on the ground floor. The place looks even more spruce now after a 2017 renovation, which also added a whole new wing, expertly crafted to match the style of the original building, while nearly doubling the number of guest rooms. For decades Adare Manor has been renowned as a golf destination, and now the fully redesigned course has been elevated to championship standard. Archery, clay pigeon shooting, and horseback riding can all be easily arranged. The hotel has three restaurants, including the fantastic Oak Room ★★★—one of the best in the region.
