Overlooking Carlingford Lough, Ghan House is a sweet, old-fashioned hotel. The good-size guestrooms are traditionally furnished, with antiques and sofas. Most are in the main 17th-century building, though there is also a modern extension, and many have views of the lake or mountains. “Superior” rooms have half-tester beds and deep Victorian bathtubs. The award-winning restaurant serves excellent Modern Irish menus—think roasted boar or fresh local beef—and the owners hold cooking and wine-tasting classes on-site. Check the website for special offers, including great dinner-bed-and-breakfast packages, starting at about €120 per person.
