This restaurant isn’t much to look at from the outside, but inside it’s a cozy, romantic option. The cooking is topnotch, allowing the freshest, local ingredients—some of which come from their own gardens—plenty of space to shine without overloading the palate. Start with a fig and Roquefort tart garnished with 25-year-old balsamic, then try the salmon with red onion marmalade, or the slow-cooked beef shortrib with thyme jus. Follow it up with a rich sticky toffee pudding with hot toffee sauce, or a super-fresh baked Alaska. The Bay Tree has an attached B&B, the Belvedere House, where pleasant, modern bedrooms cost around €90 to €100 per night.
