Windmill Cottages
Your host, Pierre Blezat, fell so in love with the area when he first came here that he left his native France to run Windmill Cottage as a B&B. He restored the small complex of farm buildings personally, and each displays a personal touch. The effect is like a series of cozy, modern country cabins with exposed pine walls decked, modern art, and contemporary furniture. The cottages are a stone’s throw (literally) from the sea, with views of the water and distant mountains. The breakfast room takes full advantage of the view and sometimes doubles as a dining room in the evenings, where Pierre serves delicious French-Irish meals that must be booked in advance. Pierre can also arrange a chauffeur service to Westport train station for €15; transfers from further afield are possible too.
