This pleasant, cheery hotel is a 5-minute walk from St. Colmcille’s House in the center of Kells. The picture-postcard facade—all hanging baskets and neat little shutters—gives way to a more modern interior, and bedrooms are simple but large and tidy. Executive rooms have two copper-sprung beds. Family rooms have plenty of space for kids. The small spa offers massage and beauty treatments at extremely reasonable prices—several cost just €25 on Wednesdays only. The hotel restaurant, the Vanilla Pod ★★ (046/924-0084), is one of the best in the area.
