The gregarious, bon viveur owners of the wonderful B&B near Navan throw open the doors of their 14th century house every Friday evening, when people come from miles off to experience their exquisite cooking. The menu is never very long, with just a couple of choices per course, but what's on offer is beautifully chosen and prepared. You may start with a simple asparagus soup before moving on to some slow cooked pork in a yogurt and paprika sauce, or perhaps a tender daube of beef. (A vegetarian option is always offered too). The excellent wine list, all French, is reasonably priced. The atmosphere here is much more like a country house dinner party than a restaurant, with everybody sitting at one large table. If you love the place so much you don't want to leave—and who could blame you?—rooms cost €130 for a double. Special events are occasionally held here, such as dinner with live opera.
