Bansha House
This Georgian manor house in tiny Bansha, in the shadow of the Galtee Mountains, is 18km (11 miles) southwest of Cashel. Guest rooms are simple and a bit old-fashioned—not all have private bathrooms, for instance, so make sure you ask for one if that’s important—but it’s cheerful, cozy, and well-run. Guests are free to wander the enormous grounds, and the owners also run a horse-breeding stable next door—ask and they’ll take you to meet the occupants. A self-catering cottage on the grounds, overlooking where the horses run, sleeps up to five.
