Befani’s

This cheerful little restaurant in Clonmel is a pleasant surprise in a region where Irish cooking is king. The tapas lunch menu is short but satisfying, with a couple of nods to exotic flavors (Thai prawns with lemongrass and chili tempura, for instance). In the evening, entrees combine Irish and Mediterranean flavors, such as hake fillet with pasta al Nero di Seppia (a sauce made with squid ink), and seared scallops with black pudding and fig jam. Befani’s also has simple guestrooms available for €75 per night, including breakfast.
