Though the outside of the building looks plain, it’s hard to fault this modern B&B, just 6km (4 miles) from Glendalough. Guestrooms are simple but tastefully furnished, with lots of polished wood and toasty underfloor heating. Rooms also have—how could they not?—enormous windows to take advantage of the picture-perfect surroundings. There’s one family room (children are charged at a 50% reduction on the adult rate), but because of the split-level design of the house, very young kids aren’t allowed. Hosts Marilyn and Seamus are a joy, genuinely kind and helpful and full of tips for the best walking paths. There’s homemade bread at breakfast, with fresh local eggs—and try the porridge, too! A haven of tranquility and charm.
