Homesick gringos and local expats gather at this casual, friendly café with a water view and a wall of shelves filled with used books. Meals are meant to delight homesick American palates while adding pleasing twists to a traditional menu. Breakfasts include whole wheat pancakes, steak and eggs, and open-faced biscuits topped with scrambled egg and bacon and smothered with cream gravy, along with healthy oatmeal and bountiful fruit plates. Burgers, wraps, garlic linguini, and walnut cilantro fish are highlights on the lunch and dinner menus, which also include several salads, including spinach and—my favorite—a large Greek salad with lots of feta cheese, kalamata olives, and anchovies (on request). Get here early for the gooey double fudge brownies, a favorite among homesick expats. The owner is strong supporter of the local humane society and signs requesting donations are posted by the cash register and bookshelves. There's also an array of real estate brochures tempting Cozumel fans to put down a deposit on a dream vacation home.
