More pleasantly located, but a 20- to 30-minute cab ride into town, is the Hotel Amazon, Av. Presidente Getúlio Vargas 600 (tel. 065/2121-2000; www.hotelamazon.com.br). The hotel is close to the city's shopping and restaurant area. Room rates range from R$140 to R$200.
