With no public transportation, the only way to get to Culebra's beaches is by bike or rental car.

There are a number of small car-rental agencies on the island, mostly renting jeeps or similar vehicles. Prices range from $45 to $85 daily. Carlos Jeep Rental, Parcela 2, Barriada Clark, Dewey (tel. 787/742-3514; www.carlosjeeprental.com), is 3 minutes from the airport. The outfitter rents jeeps and golf carts, and with advance notice, will meet you at the airport. When you drop off your rental, the staff will also drive you back to the airport. Jerry’s Jeeps (tel. 787/742-0526; www.jerrysjeeprental.com) is located in front of the airport and offers jeeps and golf carts as does Willie’s Jeep Rental, Calle Escudero, Barriada Clark (tel. 787/742-3537), which is a 5-minute walk from the airport.

Bike riding is a popular means of getting around the island’s hills, dirt trails, and bad roads. Culebra Bike Shop & Kayak Rental, at Hotel Kokomo, across from ferry, Dewey (http://culebrabikeshop.com; tel. 787/742-0589), rents bikes for $15 a day in addition to kayaks, beach chairs and umbrellas, and snorkeling gear. You can rent mountain bikes at Dick and Cathy (tel. 787/742-0062) as well. Just call to reserve, and they will deliver to your hotel. You can also rent scooters from rental car companies and JM Rentals (tel. 787/717-7583).
