Victorian with a capital V, this handsome B&B was built in 1905 as the home of a noted Dallas surgeon. Over the years it became a boarding house for female telephone operators until the current owners restored it to its original beauty. The Corinthian has done a good job of restoring its original frills, from handsome ceiling moldings to period wallpapers, oriental rugs, and lovely antique furnishings. They've also made sure that creature comforts are taken care of, hiring a chef to create elaborate breakfasts and updating the "water closets" and mattresses (which are now piled with comfy pillowtops). In addition to four rooms in the original house, guests can rent an entire suite, complete with full kitchen, in the less atmospheric but roomier and brighter former carriage house—that's also the least expensive option, oddly enough.
