Located along the upper parts of the Namhan (South Han) River, Danyang (old spelling: Tanyang) is a resort town which sits at the foot of the Sobaeksan National Park in the county of the same name. Part of the original town was flooded with the creation of the Chungju Dam in 1986, and parts of it were reconstructed. The town is a great base for exploring the region.

Trains from Cheongnyangni Station depart for Danyang about 10 times daily and take about 3 hours. You can also take an express bus from the Dong Seoul Terminal. Buses run 12 times a day. Intercity buses run from Jecheon to Danyang frequently.

If you're driving from Seoul, take the Yeongdong Expressway to the Manjong IC. Then, take the Jung-ang Inland Expressway and exit at Buk (North) Danyang. Follow the signs to the Maepo IC and to Danyang.
