Just a 2-minute walk from Bayard's Cove is one of our favorite pubs, the Cherub, 13 Higher St. (tel. 01803/832571; www.the-cherub.co.uk). It was originally built in 1380 as the harbor master's house. Today this charming pub is a great place to drink and dine on simple traditional British platters and bar snacks. There's a more formal dining room upstairs that serves a number of fish dishes, steaks, lamb, and duck. Main courses run £9.95 to £17.
