Several companies offer guided tours to Daufuskie. Calibogue Cruises runs a 2-hour bus tour taking in all the main sights, and a crab meal, for $64 (including the ferry). Tours depart once a day Tuesday to Thursday (call ahead to reserve). Calibogue can also set you up in a basic cabin for $100 per night if you’d like to stay longer.

Outside Hilton Head offers tours to Daufuskie by golf cart, guided by interpretive historians (tel. 800/686-6996 or 843/686-6996; www.outsidehiltonhead.com or www.outsidedaufuskie.com). The Daufuskie Island History and Artisans Tour, lasting 4 1/2 hours, is $85 per person (includes boat shuttle, golf cart, and guide).
