Getting to Daytona Beach
American and Delta fly into the small, pleasant, and calm Daytona Beach International Airport (tel. 386/248-8030), 4 miles inland from the beach on International Speedway Boulevard (U.S. 92), but you can usually find less-expensive fares to Orlando International Airport, about an hour’s drive away. Groome Transportation (tel. 386/257-5411) provides van transportation to and from Orlando International Airport. One-way fares are about $40 for adults, $21 for children ages 3 to 7. The service takes passengers to the company’s terminal at 1034 N. Nova Rd., between 3rd and 4th streets, or to beach hotels for an additional fee.
The ride from the airport to most beach hotels via Daytona Beach Taxi Cab (tel. 386/333-2222) is between $16 and $20.
All of the major car rental companies have booths at the airport. Or why not rent a Harley? This is Daytona, home of Biketoberfest, after all. Contact Daytona Harley-Davidson at Destination Daytona, 1637 N. U.S. Hwy. 1 (tel. 386/261-1330). Rates start at around $169 a day.
Amtrak (tel. 800/872-7245) trains stop at Deland, 15 miles southwest of Daytona Beach, with bus service from Deland to the Hilton Daytona Beach Oceanfront Resort.
Getting Around Daytona Beach
Although Daytona is primarily a driver’s town, Volusia County’s public transit system, VOTRAN (tel. 386/761-7700), runs reliable buses around town. Fares are $1.75 for adults, 85[ce] for seniors and children ages 7to 18, and free for kids ages 6 and under who are riding with an adult.

Getting Around
Although Daytona is primarily a driver's town, Volusia County's public transit system, VOTRAN (tel. 386/761-7700; www.votran.org), runs a pay trolley along Atlantic Avenue on the beach, Monday through Saturday from noon to 7pm (a select few trolleys do run until midnight) January through Labor Day. Fares are $1.25 for adults, 60¢ for seniors and children ages 6 to 17, and free for kids ages 5 and under who are riding with an adult. VOTRAN also runs buses through downtown and the beaches.
