Aragosta
Chef Devin Finigan has worked alongside some of the best names in contemporary American cooking—Thomas Keller, Michael Leviton, and fellow Mainer Melissa Kelly, among them—so she brings a pedigree to this tucked-away oceanfront gem. After years on the Stonington waterfront, Finigan and her team moved Aragosta into a tranquil old lodge at the western edge of the island. The setting can’t be beat: the dining room and broad deck overlook a pebble-ringed cove that opens onto East Penobscot Bay. Dinner is a prix-fixe chef’s tasting menu featuring what’s seasonal and local: the oysters are grown down the road, as is the produce, and the aragostas (that’s “lobsters” in Italian) were pulled from the bay that morning. Brunch is a la carte and runs the gamut from crepes and egg dishes to mussels and lobster to a fantastic cheeseburger.
