Right next to gurgling Carlo Creek itself is the Creekside Café, a simple A-frame restaurant with plank flooring, country-inn décor, and entrees that are affordable and thoughtfully prepared. The annually-changing menu has included grilled salmon with a spicy plum glaze or a rib eye steak with roasted peppers and artichoke relish. The atmosphere and the service is casual and comfortable, the portions are generous and kids are more than welcome (they have a playground outside and a kids menu). For breakfast, the signature dish here is a massive chunk of moist meatloaf topped with eggs (it’s delish) but I also highly recommend its skillet entrees: a bed of fried potatoes topped with two eggs, reindeer sausage, mushrooms, onions, olives, and a heap of other toppings. Tip: They pack substantial sack lunches for the park shuttle-bus ride.
