This new restaurant at the TAXI redevelopment in River North (a new mixed-use rebirth of a former run-down taxi HQ) is an interesting place a bit out of the way, but right off the Platte River Trail if you are on bike or foot. The colorful, contemporary, industrial interior is a nice match for the menu, with a diverse and proprietor-described “intensely seasonal” dinner menu with an emphasis on creative recipes and local ingredients. The results are excellent, including lamb steak, gnocchi with mint and fava beans, and local striped bass with cauliflower risotto. Brunch includes smoked trout and a bagel, sausage stuffed brioche French toast, and the PBR breakfast, with two eggs, home fries, choice of meat, toast, and a Pabst Blue Ribbon for $9, or $10 without the beer (yes, I know).
