Restaurant Beck is one of the three upper-echelon fine-dining restaurants along the Oregon coast, the other two being the Bay House near Lincoln City and the dining room at the Stephanie Inn. The presence of an award-winning chef, Justin Wills, and a location in the luxurious Whale Cove Inn (a sister property to the Channel House in Depoe Bay, above), has put Beck on the map. And the imaginative cooking, too, of course. Wills is up-to-date with all the current foodie farm-to-table or sea-to-table trends. Foraged wild greens might show up in your salad, your petrale sole might be served with stinging nettle and almond puree, and your halibut prepared with celery root, fiddlehead ferns, and garlic vinaigrette. And how about dried matsutake mushroom ice cream? You just won’t find this kind of culinary creativity and experimentation anywhere else on the coast.
