Bud & Alley's
Named after a dog and a cat, Bud & Alley's is a Seaside sunset tradition, when the locals gather on the rooftop bar and ring the bell as the sun goes down. While we prefer that rooftop to the more formal first-floor dining room, downstairs has definite ambiance, too, with seating on a screened porch or outside under a beachfront gazebo (you’ll hear the waves lapping against the sand). The menu offers a range of Basque, Italian, Louisiana, and Floridian dishes that might include seafood stew or sautéed head-on shrimp with garlic. Jazz is usually in the spotlight on weekends. Check the website to see whether a noted guest chef is cooking or a wine-tasting dinner is scheduled. In the same complex is Bud & Alley’s Taco Bar, where you can toss back tequila and a few tacos or burritos for $4.50 to $16, and the Pizza Bar & Trattoria, featuring eat-in or takeout antipasti, pasta, wood-burning-oven pizzas, wine, and beer for $11 to $23.
