Named after a dog and a cat, Bud & Alley's is a Seaside sunset tradition, when the locals gather on the rooftop bar and ring the bell as the sun goes down. While we prefer the casual rooftop bar to the more formal first-floor dining room, downstairs boasts its own sublime ambiance, with seating on a screened porch or outside under a beachfront gazebo. Menu highlights include barbecued head-on shrimp and a grilled black grouper with stewed butter peas, herbed basmati rice, lemon aioli, and a citrus gremolata. Bud & Alley's is more formal than its hipper sibling restaurants just steps away in the same beachfront complex, both of which we love very much: Bud & Alley's Taco Bar, a counter service spot featuring tequila and tacos, and the Pizza Bar, a full-service restaurant serving fantastic wood-fired pizzas, Italian fare, and beer and wine.
