Dinard (not to be confused with its inland neighbor, Dinan) sits on a rocky promontory at the top of the Rance River, opposite St-Malo. Once a small fishing community, by the late 19th century it was a favorite of the European jet set, thanks largely to wealthy British families who built grand Victorian villas along the coast.
Though its golden age has tarnished somewhat, Dinard is still one of France’s best-loved resorts. It’s also a destination for cinephiles, who flock to the film festival here every September.
