Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy
This minor 2019 addition is in a warehouse-like building behind Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster that hasn’t been used much before; maybe that’s why what’s inside feels extraneous. But as the only permanent Cars-themed attraction in Florida, it offers your only chance to admire the superb character engineering work behind the much larger Cars Land in Anaheim. It consists of a lone, full-size Lightning McQueen, whom we find stuck on a dais, testing his skills using a simulator. He’s so perfectly done that it’s disappointing that other characters like Mater, Cruz Ramirez, and Chick Hicks appear only on a wraparound screen. Meanwhile, Lightning just spins his wheels without going anywhere and calls it a success. Bright, colorful, loud, and over in 10 minutes. Tip: Presentations are continuous, so you’ll probably never wait more than 15 minutes.
