Getting There & Getting Around

By Car -- The best way to get to and around Donegal Bay is by car. Follow the N15 route on the southern half of the bay, the N56 route on the northern half of the bay.

By Bus -- Bus Éireann (tel. 074/912-1309; www.buseireann.ie) runs daily bus service to Killybegs and Glencolumbkille, on the northern half of the bay, and to Ballyshannon and Bundoran, on the southern half of the bay.

By Plane -- The small Donegal Airport in Carrickfinn offers a couple scheduled flights per day with Dublin and usually a daily flight with Glasgow. See the Donegal town guide for more details.

Visitor Information

The official Donegal tourism website, www.donegaldirect.ie, is a good all-round resource. It has a hotel-booking tool, which includes a list of up-to-date special offers, comprehensive entertainment listings, and a useful section of suggested driving routes with maps. Otherwise, you could contact the seasonal Ardara Heritage Centre (074/954-1704) on the main road through Ardara (office closed from November to Easter); the Letterkenny Tourist Office, Derry Road, Letterkenny (074/912-1160); or (the diminutive) Bundoran Tourist Office, The Bridge, Bundoran, County Donegal (071/984-1350). Check www.discoverireland.ie/Wild-Atlantic-Way for more information.
