Mainly geared toward business travelers and couples, the accommodations here are different from that in a conventional hotel. The Merchant House is a series of spacious guest suites, with various services attached but no dedicated reception area. The upside to this is more room—which is great for groups, although no children are allowed. The downside is that, while the entrance is secure and private, the building isn’t staffed all the time. Also, travelers who prefer their local color less, well, colorful, should be warned that it’s next door to a fetish store—albeit a fairly discreet one. The suites themselves are extremely well designed, with lovely architectural touches as well as flatscreen TVs and elegant contemporary furnishings. The bed-and-breakfast rate includes daily housekeeping service, and breakfast at a nearby cafe.
