Gundulićeva Poljana

Each morning, stall holders set up their wares for the colorful open-air market held behind the cathedral. You’ll find a range of seasonal produce, including tomatoes, zucchini, peaches, and melons in summer, as well as plastic bottles filled with homemade rakija (a potent liquor), and handmade table linens. With its old-fashioned local atmosphere, the market also makes a fine place to have coffee and watch the world go by. A bronze statue of Ivan Gundulić, a 17th-century Baroque poet from Dubrovnik and the square’s namesake, stands in the middle.
