This longstanding hot-springs resort got all gussied up with a Gold LEED-certified lodge that opened here in 2009. Attractive, subtly decorated rooms range from comfortable doubles and kings to palatial suites that sleep six. At the center of it all are the riverside hot springs that fill 23 soaking pool with water that tops out at an extreme 114 F (45 C)—by far the hottest water I have ever personally soaked. The source of the springs is more than 1,000 feet below ground, making them the deepest measured hot springs in the world. Guests get unlimited access to the pools, but you can experience them even if you aren't staying the night for $25, or $14 for those 13 and under.
