By Bus -- Midelt and Er Rachidia are major transport hubs with daily bus connections to other centers on both the northern and southern flanks of the Eastern High Atlas. Rich (1 1/2 hr. from Midelt, 40dh; 2 hr. from Er Rachidia, 50dh) is a major stop on the main R13 road, with more than a dozen buses plying the route between Midelt and Er Rachidia daily.
By Grand Taxi -- There are plenty of grands taxis running between Midelt and Er Rachidia, taking about an hour less than the bus and costing 50dh to 60dh. Between Rich and Imilchil, minibus and transit van taxis run throughout the day along the 130km (81-mile) tarred road. The scenic drive can take up to 3 hours including pickup/drop-offs and costs 75dh.
By Berber Truck -- Also known as camionettes, these regional "buses" often run between villages in a particular area, coinciding the day's travel with each village's weekly souk. It's possible to travel a large portion of the Eastern High Atlas this way, particularly between Midelt and the Todra and Dadès gorges via Imilchil, from where you can also try your chances north toward the Middle Atlas.
By Car -- The R13 runs between Midelt and Er Rachidia, and is a pleasant drive; make sure the brakes are working properly. The road west from Rich is paved all the way to Imilchil, and passes stunning gorges, tizis, and valleys. Some of the pistes branching off both of these roads are navigable in a standard 2WD vehicle, but you may encounter the odd sandy bog or sharp-edge tire-puncturing section. There is a gas station on the R13 at the turnoff to Rich/Imilchil, although it only sells diesel and leaded fuel.
All main services in Rich are located on the town square as you come from the Midelt-Er Rachidia highway: Banque Populaire, with an ATM, open Monday to Friday 8:15am to 3:45pm; Pharmacie Agdoude and Pharmacie Rich, open daily from 9am to 8pm; the post office, open Monday to Friday 8am to 4:15pm and Saturday 8 to 11:45am; and Cyber Karamanet Internet cafe, open daily 9am to 11pm. In Imilchil's small village center is a post office, open Monday to Friday 8am to 4:15pm and Saturday 8 to 11:45am; as well as a few small shops selling basic groceries.
