Ethos, sourcing, recycling: All the buzzwords are there on the website of this ethical two-branch eaterie. But that's not worth a jot, of course, if the food's not pulling its weight. Thankfully, Urban Angel, a light and airy neighborhood café in the lively East End, delivers on taste. Perennially popular with the breakfast crowd, the all-day brunch features a raw chocolate smoothie (cacao, raw almond milk, banana, and vanilla), porridge, of course, and French toast with free-range bacon and maple syrup. Lunch from noon to 5pm is a mix of little plates (falafel balls in a curry and coconut emulsion) and bigger plates, such as raw superfood salad. If you fancy an early supper, blackboard specials change every day and many can be starter or mains portions.
