In a tourist town at the end of the earth, where most restaurants plan for customers they’ll never see again, Eddie puts his heart into every meal and keeps coming up with Continental and Asian-influenced dishes that are delicious and inventive. If it’s on the menu, we highly recommend the Nairobi shrimp cooked in butter and hot paprika with onion, fresh mushrooms, and a touch of pineapple; or delicate Shanghai fish in a spicy soybean paste. Both are excellent. There’s also pasta, steaks, and barbecued ribs. Salad and side dishes come with most main courses. A 10 percent service charge, added to the bill, covers the tip. If you come by taxi, Eddie may offer to reimburse you for your return trip, an example of the genteel quality of the service here.
