Planning a trip to El Grove and La Toja

Getting There

The train from Santiago de Compostela goes as far as Vilagarcía de Arousa; take the bus from there. For train schedules, call tel. 90-224-02-02 (www.renfe.es).

From Pontevedra, buses heading for Ponte Vilagarcía de Arousa stop at La Toja. Call Monbus at tel. 98-229-29-00 (www.monbus.es) for details. A one-way fare costs 5€.

If you're driving, head east from Pontevedra on the 550 coastal road via Sanxenxo. From Santiago de Compostela, expressway A-9 leads to Caldas de Reis, where you turn off onto the 550, heading west to the coast.

Visitor Information

The tourist information office, Plaza Do Corgo s/n (tel. 98-673-14-15; www.turismogrove.com), is open in winter Monday to Friday 10am to 2pm and 4 to 6pm, Tuesday to Sunday 11am to 2pm (closed Mon in summer).
