The Ruta de las Flores in El Salvador is a rugged arrangement of villages and hills, and you can pick a bike up in the town of Juayúa. Tacuba, close the El Imposible National Park, is another excellent opportunity for pedaling over some rough terrain. You can hire a bike and guide at Imposible Tours at the Hostal Mamá y Papá. Colonial Suchitoto, north of San Salvador, has some scenic routes in the surrounding mountains and around the lake. Inquire at Las Puertas de Suchitoto for bike rentals.
