If you're just looking for a snack, a cup of coffee, or even a to-go sandwich or picnic lunch, stop off at El Valle Gourmet & Coffee Shop on the main street (tel. 6715-5785; Fri noon-9pm, Sat 9am-10:30pm, and Sun and holidays 9am-6pm). The shop has juices, coffee, imported cheeses and cold cuts, sandwiches, frozen meals, jams, tinned delicacies, and more. For an ultra-cheap local meal, try Refresquería Mr. Lary (no phone; daily 6am-7pm) on Avenida Principal, in front of the church. They offer daily lunch for $2.25 (£1.15), and traditional Panamanian breakfasts. Santa Librada on the main street also serves up generous portions of tasty local Panamanian fare. For breakfast, you can't beat the Anton Valley Hotel breakfast, where $2 or $3 (£1-£1.50) will get you a very tasty traditional American or Panamanian breakfast.
