This cozy, two-story cafe can be a challenge to squeeze into during a summer weekend, when the half-dozen tables are perennially bogarted, mostly by locals, who love to settle in for the long haul with a book and a chai latte. There’s a reason snagging a seat here can be a bear: The service is infectiously cheerful, and the food is fresh, filling, and great value. Paninis are the main draw. The aged Cheddar with caramelized onions and aioli is a vegetarian sandwich so good, even the most die-hard meat eater will be sated. (Although the steak panini is good, too.)
