We’ve long appreciated this bare-bones hotel residencia in the middle of town, just across the pedestrian promenade from Estepona’s main beach. Rooms on the front have little balconies, and on a clear day you can see the green hills of Africa across the straits. Wall-mounted heat exchangers regulate the temperature in every season, so you can close the windows to cut the noise from boisterous vacationers on the promenade. Even in the highest season, Buenavista is a bargain for an old-fashioned beach vacation. If you’re planning to go in July or August, book far ahead to get a jump on the Spanish families who flock here.
