La Alcaría de Ramos

There’s a definite international cast to the nominally Spanish cuisine in this restaurant in the tony El Paraíso sector, east of downtown Estepona. (The extensive use of French on the menu is a clear tip-off.) That said, grilled sole with vegetables and potatoes is almost always a pleasant dish in any language, and grilled sea bass in a Basque red pepper sauce is always worth the drive. The owners, the Ramos brothers, reserve much of their inventiveness for salads and soups, offering treats like a baby squid salad with Emmentaler cheese and lemon vinaigrette, or raspberry gazpacho with yogurt and mint sorbet. Opt for dining in the terrace garden if the weather permits.
