He made his name whipping up elegant farm-to-table fare at Gidleigh Park in Devon; many consider that restaurant, set in a chi chi manor house resort, to be the best in the U.K. This classy off-shoot, also set in a hotel, uses local, organically grown products just like the "mothership" does, and is run by a chef who trained under Caine himself. Among the specialties are gray mullet in a lemongrass foam; and devon beef with creamed celeriac in a madeira sauce. The restaurant has a special kids’ menu, and kids under 5 eat free.
