More than an affordable base to explore Puerto Rico’s awesome northeast corner, the Fajardo Inn is an entertaining getaway, with good food, a fun jungle–themed pool area and miniature golf and tennis. Both the upscale Creole Star Fish restaurant and the casual Blue Iguana Mexican Grill & Bar get high marks. Throw in the handsome Mediterranean villa architecture and comfortable, if simple, rooms, and this is a solid choice. Plus, you think about the bill at all, you will sleep much more soundly here than at the nearby El Conquistador.
