Glenfinnan Monument
Located at the head of Loch Shiel, at Glenfinnan, this eponymous monument marks the spot where Bonnie Prince Charlie unfurled his proud red-and-white silk banner on August 19, 1745, in his ill-fated attempt to restore the Stuarts to the British throne. The figure of a kilted Highlander tops the monument. At the visitor center, you learn of the prince's campaign from Glenfinnan to Derby, which ended in his defeat at Culloden.
