Planning a trip to Franconia Notch

Getting There -- I-93 runs right through Franconia Notch, narrowing from four lanes to two (and becoming the Franconia Notch Pkwy.) in the most scenic parts. Several scenic roadside pull-offs dot the route. Concord Coach (tel. 800/639-3317; www.concordcoachlines.com) runs one daily bus to and from Boston. There is no ticket office in Franconia; wait at Mac's Market, right off I-93 at exit 38.

Visitor Information -- Information on the park and surrounding area is available at the Flume Gorge & Visitor Center (tel. 603/745-8391), at exit 34A off I-93. North of the notch, the Franconia Notch Chamber of Commerce (tel. 603/823-5661; www.franconianotch.org) maintains a helpful little hut of visitor information on Main Street next to the town hall, open spring through fall.
