SPECIAL EVENTS

One more fine reason to come to Freeport in summer is for the abundant free music performances that take over the village’s Discovery Park from mid-June through Labor Day. Underwritten by L.L.Bean (of course), it’s officially known as Summer in the Park. The performers in this summer concert series are eclectic, and the stage gets some real-deal touring acts: recent performers have ranged from multi-platinum LA indie-pop outfit Fitz and the Tantrums to songwriter Lyle Lovett to Brooklyn hipster-folk trio The Lone Bellow. Occasional food festivals, kids’ events, and a much-loved Independence Day fireworks display add to the eclectic fun. Get a schedule by picking up a brochure at Bean’s information desk or checking www.llbean.com: Search for Summer in the Park.
