The Roundhouse
This one-time jail is the oldest public building in the state (built in 1831). It's worth a visit for history's sake, and for the one o'clock gun. The time cannon (a replica of a gun salvaged from an 1878 wreck) is fired and a time ball dropped at 1pm daily from a deck overlooking the ocean, just as it was in the early 1900s. You might be that day's honorary gunner chosen from the crowd! Volunteer guides are on hand to explain it all.
